Strawberry Matcha Latte

In my eyes matcha is truly a magical drink. It's caffinated, freshing and pairs perfectly with so many flavours. In this recipe it's combined with a fresh strawberry sauce to make an iced matcha latte that is perfect for sipping or guzzling on sticky summer days or really any time you want a little pick me up!

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Blender
  • Whisk
  • Chawan (tea bowl)

Ingredients

Strawberry Sauce

  • 1 pound Fresh Strawberries (See notes for frozen berries)
  • 1/2 cup White Sugar

Iced Matcha Latte

  • 1/4-1/2 cup Strawberry Sauce (Depending on how sweet you are feeling!)
  • 2 tsp Matcha
  • 2 Tbsp Warm Water
  • 3/4 cup Milk (of choice)

Instructions

Strawberry Sauce

  • If using fresh strawberries remove any leaves, halve the berries and place in a medium sized mixing bowl.
  • Toss the berries with the white sugar to evenly coat.
There will be excess sugar hanging around the bowl, that's okay!
Cover and let stand for at least 30 minutes. The berries can be left overnight but they will need to be placed in the fridge.
  • Blend the strawberries and all accumulated liquid until smooth.
This will give you enough strawberry sauce for at least four lattes depending on how sweet you like them!

Stawberry Iced Matcha Latte

  • In a chawan (tea bowl) or small bowl whisk together the matcha and warm water until smooth and frothy.
  • Fill a large glass with ice then add your desired amount of strawberry sauce, matcha then top with milk.
  • Stir to combine and enjoy!

Notes

If using frozen strawberries no need to thaw or cut them! Just toss them with the sugar, cover and leave in the fridge overnight before blending.
