I’m Olivia! A curious cook from rural Ontario.
My formal education is from the Stratford Chef School where I also completed my apprenticeship before entering the wonderful world of restaurants. After spending time on the line and operating various baking pop-ups I transitioned into recipe testing which I love! There is room for improvement in everything and that is beautiful!
What is At Home Gastronome?
At Home Gastronome will be a place to share some of my favourite recipes, tips, ingredients and food facts. While I would consider myself a generalist in the kitchen, you will find that my passions lean towards bread, pastry, comfort food inspired by nostalgia and the seasons. I truly feel that sauces and garnishes can take a meal from good to great and so you will see lots of those here too!
A few things about me:
Favourite Vegetable: The humble and very versatile potato.
Favourite Season: Fall! I am your stereotypical PSL drinking, Blundstone wearing, cookie baking, candle lighting Fall Girl.
Most Memorable Meal: Sitting at the Chef’s Table at Nopi in London. I still dream about the celeriac with XO sauce.
Can’t Live Without Kitchen Tool: Scale – but a rasp is a close second!
